Fans of the series Letterkenny may be surprised to learn that the show's star Jared Keeso also had a cameo in Supernatural. Starring Jared Padalecki as Sam Winchester and Jensen Ackles as Dean Winchester, Supernatural is a 15-season TV series that follows the Winchester brothers as they hunt ghosts, demons, monsters, and more. Like similar shows, Supernatural generally has season or even multi-season arcs that are interrupted by monster-of-the-week episodes that provide a breather between the main storyline of the show. These episodes are most likely to feature cameos and guest actors as they don't need to commit for long.
One of these guest actors is Jared Keeso, who is best known for has role in the main cast of Letterkenny. Keeso is the creator, showrunner, and lead actor of the Canadian sitcom, an ensemble series about the idiosyncracies of small-town Ontario life. Before his success with Letterkenny, Keeso was a bit player in movies and television, most notably playing the jumpmaster in Godzilla, Rico in Elysium, and for brief appearances in shows like Psych, Hellcats, Falling Skies, and Supernatural, where he plays a character with some similarities to his Letterkenny protagonist, Wayne.
Letterkenny: 17 Hysterical Slang Terms From The Show (& What They Mean)
From insults to hockey terms to some hilarious pop culture references, fans will want to learn all the latest of these Letterkenny slang terms.Jared Keeso Played Matt Harrison On Supernatural
Jared Keeso appears in Supernatural season 2, episode 4 "Children Shouldn't Play with Dead Things" as Matt Harrison, the character's only appearance in the show. Matt opens the episode storming into the apartment of Angela (Tamara Feldman), profusely apologizing for some slight. Angela tearfully rejects him and gets in her car. Inconsolably crying while driving, Angela loses focus and ends up crashing and dying, with Matt on the phone hearing her final moments. The story then moves to Sam and Dean who, while going to visit their mother's grave, discover Angela's and notice that all the surrounding plants are dead.
Later, Matt is in his home, tearfully watching videos of himself and Angela when she suddenly appears behind him and slashes his throat. Through their investigation, the brothers learn Matt cheated on his girlfriend Angela with her roommate Lindsey (Leela Savasta) and now she's been summoned back as a zombie to take revenge on the people who betrayed her. It's a tragic story because both Lindsey and Matt did seem to regret their affair, and while Angela has become a vengeful zombie, she didn't ask to be brought back. That was her friend Neil's (Christopher Jacot) doing.
Keeso does an excellent job portraying a grieving young man who also has to contend with the guilt of hurting Angela just before she died. He lacks closure, evidenced by his watching old home videos. Matt serves to show that there are gray areas within the Supernatural universe and just because someone errs doesn't mean they deserve to suffer. It's people like Neil, who take advantage of others' pain and tragedy, who deserve to pay for their actions.
How Keeso's Supernatural Character Compares To Wayne On Letterkenny
There's an odd symmetry between Wayne from Letterkenny and Matt from Supernatural. Both characters are involved in a cheating plot line in their first appearances, though with roles reversed. It's revealed in the Letterkenny pilot that Wayne's girlfriend of five years had cheated on him, and they broke things off. Even stranger, Wayne's ex-girlfriend is named "Angie" (Kalinka Petrie). That's two Angelas with whom Keeso has had tumultuous relationships in two very different shows.
